ISLAMABAD (Urdu Times) – The national men’s volleyball team of Pakistan officially clinched the Central Asian Volleyball Association (CAVA) Men’s Volleyball Championship 2026 title after delivering a comprehensive straight-sets (3-0) defeat to Bangladesh in the grand final today at the iconic Liaquat Gymnasium, Pakistan Sports Complex.

The home team locked down the regional crown with set scores of 25-20, 25-16, and 25-20, closing out a historic, monumental campaign where Pakistan remained completely undefeated without dropping a single set across the tournament.

The highly anticipated gold-medal showdown was witnessed by prominent members of the diplomatic corps and media fraternities. Among the dignitaries present were H.E. Mahmudul Hassan, Counsellor (Consular) at the High Commission for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh in Islamabad, and Mr. Asghar Ali Mubarak, Founder President of the Diplomatic Correspondents Forum of Pakistan (DCFP).

Speaking at the conclusion of the match, H.E. Mahmudul Hassan extended his warmest congratulations to the host nation and highly appreciated both teams for displaying elite athleticism, rigorous discipline, and a wonderful competitive spirit on the court.
He emphasized that such regional sporting events act as a vital bridge to foster stronger bilateral ties and mutual goodwill between Pakistan and Bangladesh.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif also issued an official statement congratulating the “Green Shirts” on bringing glory to the nation, commending the strategic brilliance of the players, coaches, and team management. Officials from the Central Asian Volleyball Association lauded the local sports bodies for seamlessly executing the multi-nation tournament in Islamabad.
