ISLAMABAD (Urdu Times)— PIYASS International Human Rights has announced a peaceful ‘Peace Walk’ from Parliament House to the Supreme Court of Pakistan, intensifying its public campaign against illegal indoor and outdoor Shisha Cafes in the federal capital. The aim of this campaign is to promote public awareness, protect the younger generation, and ensure strict implementation of health and public safety laws by the relevant authorities. This important public interest litigation filed by the organization is currently pending in the esteemed Islamabad High Court. The petition has taken the position that strict and immediate action should be taken against any Shisha Cafes that are violating the official manual (SOPs), or where there is evidence of drug sales and other illegal activities, as per the law. During this public awareness campaign, the Chairman of PIAS International Human Rights faced severe pressure, threats and even a fatal shooting incident. Despite these serious security challenges, the organization remains steadfast in its struggle for the rule of law, public interest and protecting the young generation from this scourge. A spokesperson for PIAS International Human Rights says, “We have complete and unwavering faith in the esteemed Islamabad High Court. We are confident that the High Court will deliver a historic verdict in the light of the available evidence and law that will ensure justice, public interest and the protection of the future of our young generation.” This peaceful walk in the near future is a symbolic call for civil society and law enforcement agencies to eradicate illegal activities from the commercial centers of Islamabad. The final date and time for this peaceful march will be announced to the media and the public soon.
