Some elements want to create division among the Pakistani nation on the issue of Palestine for political reasons only. Pakistan’s participation in the Gaza Peace Board is for the Palestinian people. A meeting of the Peace Board was held on the situation in Gaza. Speaking during the meeting, Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council, Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi, said that the participation of Pakistan and Islamic countries in the Gaza Peace Board is for the Palestinian people. The Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council said that we hope that in the meeting of the Gaza Peace Board to be held today, Prime Minister Pakistan Mian Shahbaz Sharif will once again discuss Pakistan’s principled position on the issue of Palestine. Hafiz Tahir Ashrafi said that our position is clear: an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital, the reconstruction of Gaza, a complete ceasefire, and an end to Israeli horror and barbarity. Pakistan’s participation in the UN-approved ceasefire and reconstruction framework for Gaza does not indicate any change in Pakistan’s position. Since the establishment of Pakistan, Pakistan has always supported the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state and has not recognized Israel. This policy remains the same today. The initiative to join the Peace Board is collective, which includes Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Indonesia, so it is not right to link it to any kind of “normalization” or recognition of Israel. He said that participation in multilateral forums is not equal to diplomatic relations. Rather, it is a reflection of global responsibility. Pakistan’s participation in the forum is clearly conditional on the condition that there is a permanent ceasefire, the reconstruction of Gaza, and the establishment of a Palestinian state, paving the way. Chairman Pakistan Ulema Council. The important thing is that decisions on ceasefire and reconstruction can be made better by those countries that are present at the table. Pakistan is there to protect Palestinian interests and ensure that no step is taken against the Palestinian position. Pakistan’s historical position remains the same today, full support for Palestine, and playing a practical role while adhering to this principle.
