Islamabad (Saqib Khattar)(Urdu Times): Authorities in Khanewal have launched a strict crackdown on kite flying following directives from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif to enforce a complete ban on the hazardous activity.
District Police Officer (DPO) Khanewal, Ismail Kharrak, has taken the lead in ensuring effective implementation of the orders. Police teams have been deployed across the district to monitor violations and take immediate action against those involved in kite flying or the sale of banned materials.
The DPO personally visited various parts of the city to review enforcement measures. A photograph showing him inspecting different areas with binoculars quickly went viral on social media, drawing public attention and appreciation for his proactive approach.
Officials warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found flying kites or selling metallic strings, which have caused serious injuries in the past. Special squads have been formed to conduct raids and confiscate prohibited items.
Local residents have welcomed the initiative, saying the ban is essential for public safety. Police have also started an awareness campaign urging parents to discourage children from engaging in the dangerous activity.
Authorities have reiterated their commitment to fully enforcing the ban to prevent accidents and protect lives.
