Karachi (Urdu Times) Early Pregnancy Assessment and Adolescent Care One-Stop Centre Inaugurated at Jinnah Hospital

Karachi (Urdu Times) Karachi Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah inaugurated the Early Pregnancy Assessment and Adolescent Care One-Stop Centre at Jinnah Hospital Karachi.
The inauguration ceremony was organized under the leadership of Professor Dr. Nighat Ali Shah, Head of Gynecology Ward 9-B and Chief Organizer of the event.
Vice Chancellor of Jinnah Sindh Medical University, Professor Dr. Amjad Siraj Memon, attended the ceremony as Chief Patron, while Executive Director of Jinnah Hospital, Professor Dr. Khalid Sher, participated as Patron.
The event was also attended by Joint Executive Director Dr. Sulaiman, Executive Deputy Directors Dr. Nosheen and Dr. Yahya, Deputy Director Dr. Saddam, YDA Sindh Vice Chairman Dr. Mehran Shar, YDA Jinnah Hospital President Dr. Ammar Danish, Spokesperson Dr. Muhammad Ali, Senior Leader Dr. Shahjahan Gujrani, General Surgeon Dr. Shafqat, General Surgeon Dr. Naeem, Dr. Naresh, along with senior physicians, doctors, nurses, healthcare professionals and members of the organizing team.
Addressing the ceremony as the chief guest, Sindh Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah said that the newly established centre would provide early pregnancy assessment, medical consultation and healthcare services for adolescents.

He said the One-Stop Centre would provide women and adolescents with safe, integrated and coordinated healthcare services under one roof, making it easier for patients to access the required medical care and professional guidance.
The Chief Secretary said that he had a longstanding association with Jinnah Hospital and that every visit to the institution brought an opportunity to witness a new healthcare initiative.
He appreciated the services being provided by Jinnah Hospital to patients arriving from across the country and said that healthcare remains one of the top priorities of the Sindh government. He added that public-sector hospitals were being further strengthened to improve healthcare delivery.
He assured that Jinnah Hospital would be provided with additional budgetary support, resources and the required human resources to further improve its services.
Speaking about broader healthcare challenges, Asif Haider Shah said that climate change and malnutrition have a significant impact on the health of women and children. He emphasized the need to link maternal and child health programmes with WASH, population welfare and the First 1,000 Days initiatives.
He further said that, in view of limited resources and a rapidly growing population, preventive healthcare and effective population planning are essential for improving health outcomes.
On the occasion, Professor Dr. Nighat Ali Shah said that the establishment of the Early Pregnancy Assessment and Adolescent Care One-Stop Centre was another important milestone in advancing maternal and adolescent healthcare.
She said the centre would provide integrated, patient-centred and evidence-based medical services in a safe and supportive environment, particularly focusing on the healthcare needs of mothers and adolescent girls.
Professor Dr. Nighat Ali Shah emphasized that providing better and accessible healthcare facilities to women remains one of the key priorities, adding that the new centre would contribute significantly towards improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare services for women and adolescents.
