According to a press release issued by the Foreign Ministry spokesperson, the two leaders reviewed the rapidly changing security situation in the region and its possible implications. During the conversation, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar called for the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (June 2026) and stressed that all parties concerned should take the path of de-escalation and exercise utmost restraint. He reminded that for lasting peace in the region, strict implementation of the decisions and principles taken under the historic “Islamabad MoU” (Memorandum of Understanding) signed in June 2026 is the need of the hour. The Foreign Minister of Pakistan clarified that negotiations and diplomacy are the only viable way to resolve the ongoing conflicts and outstanding issues in the region on a permanent basis. He said that only through peaceful coexistence, dialogue and diplomatic relations can sustainable peace, prosperity and stability be ensured in the region. Senator Ishaq Dar reiterated his resolve in his talks with Tehran that Pakistan is, as always, fully prepared and committed to playing its positive and constructive role for the promotion and survival of regional peace and stability. At the end of the call, the leaders of both countries fully agreed to keep a close eye on the latest situation in the region and to maintain close ties in the future. In the context of this telephonic call, the current regional and diplomatic situation is that the “Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding” or Islamabad MoU was signed on June 17, 2026. It was a historic diplomatic breakthrough between the United States and Iran, brokered by Pakistan, and signed by US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga. Its aim was to end the recent US-Iran conflict in the Middle East. Under the Islamabad MoU, a temporary ceasefire was agreed between the two sides for 60 days to pave the way for a permanent peace agreement. In this entire process, Pakistan played the role of the central mediator, while Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Turkey also provided assistance in this negotiation process. The spokesperson of the Pakistani Foreign Ministry has put Pakistan’s formal position on Pak-Iran relations and the crisis in the Middle East before the world. Pakistan has clearly stated that Pakistan strongly condemns any new war or military action in the region. In the light of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding (MoFA), there should be an immediate and permanent ceasefire on all fronts in the region. The spokesperson urged all regional countries and global powers to refrain from taking any frivolous steps that could violate sovereignty or further worsen the security situation in the Middle East.
In addition to the recent telephonic conversation with Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araqchi, while briefing international media in Tehran, specifically mentioned Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. The Iranian Foreign Minister said that Iran highly values Pakistan’s “diplomatic sincerity and efforts” (Good Offices) to establish peace in the region and resume negotiations. He also raised the point that under the Islamabad MoU, the primary responsibility for the temporary ceasefire and keeping the Strait of Hormuz open to commercial shipping lies with the US and its allies, and the US will have to stop airstrikes on countries in the region. Following this diplomatic activity, diplomatic channels of both Pakistan and Iran have confirmed that the foreign ministers of the two countries will remain in constant contact. Pakistan is currently working with Qatar and Saudi Arabia as a dynamic diplomatic network to bring Tehran and Washington back to the negotiating table and save the region from a major war. Moreover, Iran’s top negotiator and parliament speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf has said that the era of unilateral agreements is over. Baqer Qalibaf had already warned in his message on X that the era of unilateral agreements is over, fulfill your promises or pay the price. The Iranian speaker said that now reality is knocking on your door, Tehran will protect its interests in the Strait of Hormuz at all costs. Qalibaf also shared a picture of Article 5 of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with his post, which contains a clause regarding the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, the words “The Islamic Republic of Iran will make arrangements” are highlighted in the picture. Meanwhile, tensions between Iran and the US have once again intensified, with the Revolutionary Guards claiming that US military installations and logistics centers in the region have been targeted. After the latest US attacks on Iran, Iran has attacked US military targets in Oman, Qatar, Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said it launched a “sudden and severe” attack on logistics support centers and refueling platforms used by U.S. aircraft carriers in the Omani port of Duqm. Ballistic missiles were also fired at Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar, destroying a warplane maintenance and repair center and a command and control center. The Iranian military also claimed to have targeted Patriot air defense systems, weapons depots, and radar installations used by the U.S. military in Kuwait and Bahrain. The United States has also launched a large-scale military operation against Iran, firing missiles at several coastal cities. Heavy explosions were heard in Chabahar, Bushehr, Qeshm, and Bandar Abbas, while reports of airstrikes have also been received in Konarak, Minab, Sirik, and Bushehr. According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the Revolutionary Guards attacked a Cypriot-flagged ship in the Strait of Hormuz. A civilian crew member is missing. The ship was unable to continue its journey due to a fire. Iran was given another chance to comply with the memorandum of understanding, but Iran failed to comply once again. In response to the attack, the US is imposing a heavy price on Iran. These attacks are being carried out on the instructions of the US Central Command. US Secretary of War Pat Hegseth said in his statement that Iran made the wrong decision and now it will have to bear the consequences.

ISLAMABAD (Urdu Times) To stop the escalating tension and resume talks, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar have launched an urgent diplomatic mission, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar has made an important telephonic contact with Iranian Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araqchi, in which the […]

[57

post-91373","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-57
["GET
