Islamabad (Urdu Times) Police Intensify Crackdown on Criminals, Conduct Extensive Search and Combing Operations164 Criminal Suspects Arrested Last Week; Drugs, Illegal Weapons and Ammunition Recovered Islamabad On the special directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Captain (Retd.) Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, Islamabad Police continued its effective crackdown against criminal elements and intensified efforts to prevent crime across the federal capital.During the past week, police arrested 164 suspects allegedly involved in serious crimes, including 104 court absconders, proclaimed offenders and previously record-holding criminals. Another 60 suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking and possession of illegal weapons were also arrested.Police recovered 1,837 grams of ice, 5,930 grams of hashish, 815 grams of cannabis, 56 bottles of liquor, three rifles, three Kalashnikovs, six daggers and 31 pistols of different calibers along with ammunition from the arrested suspects. Cases have been registered against the accused, and further investigation is underway.Meanwhile, grand search and combing operations were conducted in different areas under the supervision of zonal SPs. During these operations, police checked 2,169 persons, 1,045 houses, 260 shops, 133 hotels, 1,134 motorcycles and 443 vehicles.For further verification, 132 suspicious persons, 127 motorcycles and nine vehicles were shifted to different police stations. Police also recovered three Kalashnikovs and three pistols from suspects allegedly involved in illegal possession of weapons.DIG Islamabad Ali Wasim said that Islamabad Police remains committed to protecting the lives and property of citizens and eliminating criminal activities from the capital. He said that search, combing and intelligence-based operations would continue to be strengthened to effectively prevent crime and apprehend criminal elements.He further stated that under Islamabad Police’s “No to Weapon” campaign, comprehensive action is being taken against illegal weapons, display of weapons and aerial firing. Effective measures are also being taken for the arrest of proclaimed offenders and previously record-holding criminals, prevention of drug-related crime and provision of prompt justice to citizens.DIG Islamabad Ali Wasim directed officers to make search operations more effective while ensuring respect for citizens’ dignity and strict compliance with legal procedures. He also directed police personnel to maintain close vigilance over suspicious activities and take timely action in accordance with the law.He appealed to citizens to immediately report any suspicious activity or person to the relevant police station or Police Emergency Helpline 15, stressing that cooperation between the police and public is essential for strengthening efforts to prevent crime and maintain peace and security in the federal capital.
